Asthma
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease that causes the airways to narrow and produce excess mucus, leading to breathing difficulties. Symptoms include wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath.
Pneumonia
Pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs, causing them to fill with fluid or pus. Symptoms include cough, fever, chills, and difficulty breathing.
Tuberculosis (TB)
TB is a bacterial infection that primarily affects the lungs. It spreads through the air and can cause symptoms such as persistent cough, fever, night sweats, and weight loss.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
COPD is a group of lung diseases, including emphysema and chronic bronchitis, that cause airflow obstruction and breathing difficulties. Symptoms include persistent cough, wheezing, and shortness of breath.
Lung cancer
Lung cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the lungs. It is often caused by smoking and can lead to symptoms such as persistent cough, chest pain, and weight loss.

Avoid smoking
Smoking is a major risk factor for many respiratory diseases, including lung cancer and COPD. If you smoke, seek help to quit. Avoid exposure to second-hand smoke as well.
Maintain good indoor air quality
Ensure proper ventilation in your home and workplace. Use air purifiers and avoid exposure to pollutants, such as dust, mould, and chemicals.
Practice good hygiene
Wash your hands regularly to prevent respiratory infections. Avoid close contact with people who are sick and cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
Get vaccinated
Vaccinations can protect against respiratory infections such as influenza and pneumonia. Stay up to date with recommended vaccines.
Exercise regularly
Engage in regular physical activity to strengthen your respiratory muscles and improve lung function. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week.
Monitor air quality
Be aware of outdoor air quality, especially if you have respiratory conditions. Avoid outdoor activities on days with high pollution levels.
